Hey everyone!
How Soccer Explains the World is much different than Oliver Twist, but with many new insights and explanations. However, due to the soccer lingo and decidedly soccer bias please ask any questions you may have. Please let me know what you think of the book and any progress you are making!

Oliver Twist
Hey everyone! We already had the pizza party blowout for Oliver Twist, but to those that weren't able to make it or have just finished please post your comments on the book and you're own personal rating. Also, it was a very confusing and confounding book so if you have any questions also post here!

Oliver Twist, nearing an end
Congratulations in advance to those that have and will complete Oliver Twist! Let's all give them a round of applause....
I am not quite completed yet, but I have all ready made it a point that I will not sleep tonight until it is completed. Which will not be that difficult as I am wrapped up in the wonderful story told by Charles Dickens. Not what I expected, but I will leave my commentary for Sunday night. For those that are able, this Sunday will be the first congratulatory pizza party starting around 6:30 pm. This party is for everyone that aggressively tried or finished Oliver Twist. If you gave it every effort (and this is an honor system) to complete the book but were unable to finish due to unforeseen circumstances you are still allowed and welcome to join in on Sunday. However, we will probably mention the ending; so if you are hoping to complete it be aware that you may need to bring earmuffs. Please let me know if you are able to make it so that I get enough pizza, but no problems if you show up unannounced. We just want as many people as are willing to be there. Congratulation in advance! I know it is very difficult with everyone's schedules.
Also, please not that this Sunday begins "How Soccer Explains the World." I am very excited to start. We only have three people signed up so far, but we may get less due to the nature of the book. Please remember to write down your name if you are planning to read the book. I own a copy of this book so if anybody can't find a copy please let me know and I will make sure you are able to read it. I want to make sure if there is a will there is a way.
So I will end this note with an excerpt from Oliver Twist (altered for Dustin's Global Book Club):
"There is no pursuit more worthy of me: more worthy of the highest nature that exists: than the struggle to win such a heart as [this book club]. [Book Club], my own dear [Dustin's Global Book Club]! For years - for years - I have loved you; hoping to win my way to fame, and then come proudly home and tell you it had been pursued only for you to share; thinking, in my day-dreams, how I would remind you, in that happy moment, of the many silent tokens I had given of a boy's attachment, and claim [Dustin's Global Book Club], as in redemption of some old mute contract that had been sealed between us! That time has not arrived; but here, with no fame won, and no young vision realised, I offer you the heart so long [book club's] own, and stake my all upon the words with which you greet the offer."
Even Dickens loved book club....
Hope to see you Sunday,
Dustin
